cover: something is killing the children #33

Who knew that drawing an invisible monster would take longer than drawing a visible one?

It wasn’t picked for the final, but I still like the daylight version better — the mundanity of it feels far more striking to me. But my mundane and ever-more-drably-factual interests and impulses don’t move books, so I leave that for personal work.

And then I guess there should be a photo of my head having the idea next, but let’s stop here, or I’d have to go even further, and include the stuff leading up to that (reading the book, looking at the existing hundred covers, eliminating ideas that were already done there; eliminating setups and colors that were too close to other, unrelated, covers I did recently, and so on.) Like the picture itself, showing the invisible part would take much longer.

And no worries, the whole point of this place is to catch up easily, whenever! Even I don’t need myself in real time…

I really like C the broad daylight black and white option. Very striking.
